Unit 4 : Healthy ageing & nutrition in palliative care

  • Nutrition and other important nutrients
  • Exercise; importance of maintaining muscle mass
  • Lifestyle factors to reduce cognitive decline and dementia
    • Nutrition, exercise, socialization, sleep, environment, mental activity
  • Nutrition in Palliative Care
    • Value of food at End of Life
    • Comfort and nutritional requirements at End of Life
    • Artificial nutrition and hydration
    • Using appropriate language

This unit will assist you and your organisation in meeting standards related to:  Supports for daily living that optimise the person’s independence, health, well-being and quality of life as they define it. Holistic care and assessment of need based on best practice and person centred care.  Organisational governance.
